Parklands Equestrian is home to both Parklands Riding for the Disabled and Hands to Hooves – offering both animal and equine assisted learning.
Our goal at Parklands is to use Animal Assisted Learning to improve social, emotional, physical and cognitive functioning. Animals can be amazing for both educational and motivational effectiveness, they do not judge but simply want to please. Being outdoors is also a therapy in itself to many. Looking after animals and creating small tasks around the animals can also help us to learn about responsibility and trust.
Our doors are open to anyone of any age or disability and sessions are catered for on an individual basis whether for private or groups sessions. Please note there is a weight limit for horse riding.
For those wanting to work towards certificates and achievements we will soon offer a range of programmes
- RDA proficiency tests
- Endeavour awards
- ASDAN Programmes.
These tests can be individually tailored to any individual and their personal level and goals or can be more structured such as the ASDAN programmes
Work experience can also be arranged to help those taking on the challenges of starting a career
For those wanting to pursue horse riding to a higher level and maybe have a go at competing we have some stunning more advanced horses for training. We also offer a schooling or training livery for those who have their own horses

Our first RDA pony bessie. She is 13hh, 6yrs old with a great temperament. Bessie will be a great asset to the center.
Alongside their RDA work all ponies are taken to shows and are professionally trained, this keeps them happy, fresh and well trained for their jockeys. Below is casper having some fun at a dressage show, Dillon helping deliver presents with Santa to the children Childrens Ward with Princess Elsa & Anna and finally Bessie, Casper & Diego playing fancy dress at a charity horse show for the Air Ambulance
